In the spirit of The Melbourne Cup held today, I thought posting some images from our time at the David Jones Marquee during the Caulfield Cup would be fitting. I have to admit, I have never really gotten into Melbourne’s huge racing culture before, but after the amazing time we had at this race day, I’ve been changed into a racing lover! I decided not to attend Derby Day and The Melbourne Cup (there are so many race days and it’s almost impossible to attend them all… I don’t know how some girls do it!) but have had the best time planning my outfits for Oaks Day and Stakes Day later this week and can’t wait to get involved in the races again.
The David Jones marquee was located trackside in the Heath Enclosure and in my opinion (perhaps I’m a tad biased!) was the best location at Caulfield Racecourse to watch the race. Guests were treated to lychee cocktails, champagne and delicious food by the team at Coda restaurant such as freshly shucked oysters, seared scallops and pork belly buns. Delish!
I was lucky enough to be able to wear this floral printed Ted Baker dress. I knew I wanted to wear something a little more traditional and decided to opt out of a body con to a fuller skirted dress matched with a pair of vintage gloves that my Grandma has been wearing for years. The colour of these gloves went perfectly with my Jendi head piece and after searching high and low for a matching belt and shoes, I was relieved when one of my friends offered up her shoes and belt to me for the day!
