Above are some of my favourite pictures taken from a recent Europe trip, which included Athens and visiting the Greek Islands of Mykonos, Ios and Santorini.
MYKONOS: We began our Greek holiday in Mykonos, boarding a ferry from Athens. Mykonos is an amazing place, somewhere I would love to go back and visit again. It’s an extremely lively city, with bars, clubs and restaurants lining the city streets, but my favourite time in Mykonos was during the day walking around the cobble stone streets, looking at the white washed buildings! So pretty. If you ever do visit Mykonos, make sure you head to Paradise Beach, where you can relax on the beach all day in the sun. The beach then turns into a huge party at about 3pm and lasts all night!
SANTORINI: Next it was off to Santorini, which has to be my favourite out of the 3 islands we visited, and probably my favourite place out of the whole Europe trip mainly because of how beautiful this place is. We stayed in Fira which is filled with white buildings with the blue roofs (so cute!). We also took a boat out to the old volcano and to the hot springs which was really fun, and took a trip to Oia to watch the sunset, which is apparently one of the best sunsets in the world!
IOS: We were planning on staying in Ios for over a week because we had heard such good things about it, but only ended up staying 4 days. This was due to the fact that it was overrun (we thought) with drunk 18 year old Australian’s and American’s. We still had an amazing time because the island is so pretty, but we decided to make detour and take a trip to Athens.
ATHENS: Athens is an interesting city. To me it felt a little neglected compared to the rest of Europe. We stayed in the area called Plaka which I would recommend as there were some other areas which friends stayed in who said were a bit unsafe. However, visiting the Acropolis was amazing and is something that I think everyone should see!
