Last month my boyfriend and I were lucky enough to be invited down to Melbourne to the Australian Open with Lacoste. As I am from Melbourne, I wanted to experience my home city in a different way, and what better way to do that than glamping on top of Melbourne Central at St. Jerome’s Hotel.
I’m sure you’re all aware of what glamping is, but in case you don’t, it means glamorous camping, and St. Jerome’s Hotel was exactly that. I have to say that I was a little bit sceptical when I made the booking as I have never been one who likes camping and sharing my bathroom with strangers. However as soon as we arrived, my nervousness was set at ease when I discovered the lovely queen bed inside our airconditioned tent, and complimentary welcome drinks and doughnuts also helped!
Don’t be confused by the whole camping concept and think that you’re going to get a cheap night in Melbourne. Staying at St. Jerome’s Hotel will set you back almost the same price as a night in one of Melbourne top hotels. But you’re paying for is the experience of sleeping in a deluxe tent overlooking Melbourne, and also the fun freebies. St. Jerome’s not only offers complimentary craft beers and ciders on arrival, but also free cocktails at the General Store during cocktail hour, free mini Grill’d burgers delivered straight to your tent for a late night snack, a gourmet breakfast box with barista made coffee to wake you up in the morning, plus free use of their in house bikes (which you can see me riding around the hotel!).
